Guide
The BMW Café Racer
What makes a café racer
Café racers originated in England in the 60s: lightweight, fast motorcycles tuned for sportiness. Typical features include clip-on handlebars, a short single-seat tail with a cowl, rear-set footrests, and a slim, elongated silhouette. The BMW boxer engine, with its cylinders protruding from the sides, gives them an unmistakable look.

FAQ
Questions about Café Racer
Can't find your question? Use our parts inquiry form – we will respond personally.
Which BMW is best suited as a café racer?
Can I still take a passenger with a 1-person tail section?
Nein.
Do clip-on handlebars require registration?
Generally yes, as the handlebar shape and seating position change. Our triple clamps for clip-on handlebars come with a TÜV certificate, which makes registration easier.
Do you build complete café racers?
Yes – take a look at our Café Racer Concept Bikes or ask us directly via our contact page.
