Guide
The BMW Bobber
What makes a bobber
The name comes from "bobbing," meaning to shorten: everything unnecessary is removed. Typical features include a solo seat, a short, low rear end with a minimalist fender, wide tires, and a rather relaxed riding position. On the Boxer, this creates a compact, powerful silhouette.
BMW Bobber profile
| Seat | Solo seat, low |
|---|---|
| Tail | Short, minimalist fender |
| Exhaust | 2-in-2, often low-slung |
| Best base | R45 / R65 twin-shock, R80 / R100 monolever |
| Tires | Often wider |
| Registration | Seat kit with TÜV approval, exhaust with ABE (general operating permit) |
The best base for a BMW bobber
The small boxer R45 and R65 models are classic bobber bases due to their narrow frames. For more power, the R80 and R100 are ideal—especially as Monolever versions with a clean rear end.
The most important bobber parts
- Bobber seat kit with TÜV approval for Monolever and Paralever models.
- 2-in-2 bobber exhaust with ABE (type approval) – available as a slip-on or complete system, also available with ceramic coating.
- Bobber fender and license plate holder kit.
- Bobber headers for the perfect sound.

Mit Solo-Sitz ja. Der Beifahrerplatz entfällt und wird in den Papieren entsprechend geändert.
