BMW R 80 complete restoration
A comprehensive BMW R80 restoration is not just about fixing individual defects. The goal is a holistic overhaul of the motorcycle.
Every vehicle is first completely disassembled. The frame, engine, transmission, chassis, electrical system, and attachments are thoroughly inspected and evaluated. Based on this, an individual restoration concept is created, tailored to the condition of the vehicle and the owner's wishes.
This allows wear, signs of aging, and previous repairs to be reliably identified and professionally rectified.
Overhaul of engine and transmission
The air-cooled two-valve boxer engine is known for its longevity. Nevertheless, decades and often well over 100,000 kilometers of riding leave their mark.
As part of the restoration, the engine is completely disassembled and checked. Wear parts are replaced, sealing surfaces are machined, and all components are carefully measured. Upon request, the cylinder heads can be converted for unleaded fuel and technically brought up to date.
The transmission is also completely overhauled. Bearings, seals, and worn components are replaced to ensure long-term reliable operation.
Chassis, brakes, and electrical system
In addition to the engine and transmission, the chassis and braking system play a decisive role in safety and ride comfort.
The fork, shock absorbers, steering head bearings, swingarm bearings, and brake components are checked and, if necessary, overhauled or replaced. The vehicle's electrical system is also checked so that the motorcycle functions reliably in everyday use.
Thanks to the technical overhaul, a restored BMW R80 often rides much more precisely and safely than many vehicles that have only been maintained for decades.
Refurbishment of frame and surfaces
An important part of every BMW motorcycle restoration is the visual refurbishment.
The frame, swingarm, and other metal parts are recoated. Worn or damaged attachments are refurbished or replaced. The paintwork is carried out according to the customer's wishes, either true to the original or as a high-quality reinterpretation of the classic BMW design.
This creates a motorcycle that retains its authentic character while appearing in new splendor.
