The stainless steel battery box is extremely lightweight and gives your BMW a clean look. It is mounted directly under the gearbox, thereby lowering the center of gravity. A clear view through the frame triangle gives the BMW a lean appearance. The battery box is designed to hold our HJP14 or HJP18 lithium-ion batteries, or the HJTX20 for vehicles with more extensive electrical equipment. All batteries handle the job with ease, even with high compression. The batteries weigh 1000g and 1100g respectively. The weight savings amount to over 10 kg! A lithium-ion battery can withstand six times the number of charge cycles compared to a conventional battery. The self-discharge rate is only 5 percent per month. A worthwhile investment in the long run.
The battery box is perfectly suited for both the original rear end and any custom rear conversion. Can be used with or without an air filter box.

Important: Mounting the battery box is only possible if there is no exhaust system under the gearbox, meaning no connecting pipe or pre-silencer. This is generally the case with 2-2 systems. We offer such systems for all BMW 2-valve models.
Installation tip: We continue to use the original positive cable in our conversions. We route it from the starter through the upper engine cover, through the air filter box (or alternatively an aftermarket starter cover), past the back of the gearbox to the "under-engine battery box".
For the -ground connection, we use a new cable 95mm in length. We bolt this between the negative terminal of the battery and the rear gearbox cover.
