The BMW R80 GS and R100 GS are the most honest scrambler and enduro bases: off-road capable as standard, with long suspension travel and an upright seating position. The concept is already built-in – you don't have to force it.
No other model brings scrambler/enduro DNA from the factory. Anyone wanting a truly off-road capable custom doesn't have to start from scratch with the GS.
Why the GS is the honest scrambler base
- Off-road capable as standard: long suspension travel, large front wheel, upright seating position.
- Robust & travel-ready: the GS is built for long distances and rough terrain.
- Strong references: our Enduro Concept Bikes show what is possible.
Frame note: Monolever vs. Paralever
The original R80 G/S is a Monolever; late R80 GS and R100 GS models are Paralever. The Paralever is technically superior but makes rear-end conversions more demanding – important for choosing the right parts.
