The high quality starter/engine cover creates a smooth transition between engine and gearbox when the original filter box is removed. The original, middle starter bonnet with the BMW lettering remains. Afterwards K&N filters or suction funnels are to be used, which finally let the real Cafe Racer breathe freely.
The precisely fitting cover is manufactured using the sand casting process. It fits well and, in our experience, is the most accurate version available on the market.
Note: The short starter cover is suitable for all models with the newer, rectangular air filter box (from 1980). If you have an older model (up to 1980), you can still fit the cover. However, you will also need the starter cover (cover over the starter) for the newer models from 1980 onwards, which you can buy for little money on EBAY and the like. If you don't want this, you can also simply use our long version (1296056). This fits all models.
